Who are we?

We are Illinois Beta, the second Tau Beta Pi Chapter in Illinois, founded in 1906!

We are group of passionate and enthusiastic engineers, not only academically strong but diverse in our talents. Our members are the top of the top, the best of the best. Besides getting high grades (and having fun), we push the boundries of what it means to be an engineer and a leader.

Why should I join Tau Beta Pi?

Tau Beta Pi is the oldest, largest, and most presitigous honor society for engineers in the history of America. Our members include 19 Nobel laureates, over 60 astronauts including Buzz Aldrin, and numerous inventors and innovate entrepreneurs such as Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos.

Illinois Beta, in particular, hosts a variety of closed-member events geared towards leadership, professional development, networking, and skillset building. Engineering Futures is the most attended and well known of our events!

What kind of benefits do members get?

Not only do members receive benefits from the local chapters such as having access to private networking events, but they also get benefits at the national level! Check the national site out for more.

  • Access to scholarships and fellowships from TBP where the odds for receiving a scholarship are about 1 in 2!

  • Members receive a 30% discount on the FE and PE exams.

  • TBP assists members with relocation by giving members access to exclusive discounted rates at major hotels worldwide.
